Kuala Lumpur weather

Kuala Lumpur is hot and humid all year long so anytime is a great time to visit. However, during June and July, despite of a monthly average of 125 mm (5 in) of rainfall, the climate is relatively dry. Kuala Lumpur is sheltered by the Titiwangsa Mountains on the east and Indonesia's Sumatra Island on the west. Besides having a warm and sunny equatorial climate, Kuala Lumpur has heavy rainfall from September to April. You will find that the temperatures in Kuala Lumpur remain constant, with the maximum remaining between 31 °C and 33 °C (88-92 °F) and minimum between 22 °C and 23.5 °C (71-74 °F). The temperatures do not exceed 37 °C (99 °F), nor do they fall below 19 °C (66 °F). Kuala Lumpur receives an annual rainfall of 2,266 mm (89.2 in).

The downstream areas and the city centre areas in Kuala Lumpur get frequently flooded whenever there is excessive rainfall. Pollution is also a major problem in the city. Dust particles travel from Sumatra's forest fires and form smog over the region. These particles, along with emission from motor vehicles, open burning and construction work, cause major air pollution.
