Pick-up times are from 8:45 to 9:15 in the morning. Actual pick-up time will depend on the location of hotel and traffic condition.

Complimentary pick-up and drop off service at selected hotels within the city limits to our tour departure point, where you will be transferred to your respective vehicle. Guests staying at other hotels are advised to find their own way to the departure point or to the nearest selected hotel for complimentary pick up.

Complimentary pick-up for hotels located at Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail and major hotels located within a 1 km radius from the Malaysia Tourism Centre Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

A surcharge will be applied for pick-up from hotels outside the selected hotels.

Please indicate which hotel you are staying at the time of booking and we shall advise you the nearest and most convenience pick-up point for the tour and applicable pick-up surcharge.

Cancellation policy

The fee for cancellation 72 hours or more prior to departure date - 20 %; between 48 and 24 hours prior to departure date - 50 %; and within 24 hours prior to departure date - 100 % of tour cost. In the case of no-show, 100 % of the total amount will be chargeable.

No refund or discount will be given in part or full for any items not utilised either by choice or due to circumstances once the tour has commenced.

Children policy

Children below three years of age are allowed to join the tour for free, but must travel with an adult.

Zoo Negara & School of Hard Knocks Tour

This is an adventure and educational tour. Visitors can observe various forms of wildlife, birds and marine species at the Zoo Negara, and later visit the Royal Selangor Pewter Factory which is one of the largest in the world. Here, one can observe the processes involved in the making of pewter and later attend the School of Hard Knocks where visitors can mould and design their own pewter masterpiece.

Zoo Negara Malaysia is the National Zoo of Malaysia and covers an area of 110 acres. It was opened in 1963 and has been managed by the Malaysian Zoological Society ever since. It houses a total of over 5000 animals from over 450 species of birds, reptiles, mammals, amphibians and fish.  The zoo also holds within it the Tunku Abdul Rahman Aquarium, Malaysia's first ecological fresh water aquarium, the Mini Bee Museum, the Bird Aviary and Reptile Park. In addition to that, the zoo authorities have succeeded in breeding many endangered species.

The Royal Selangor Pewter Factory is the next stop on this tour. This factory is the largest  and most modern pewter factory in the world and has a visitor centre that both tourists and Malaysians can visit. The Gallery Section includes educational exhibits such as the origins of pewter. There are interactive displays such as the Chamber of Chimes, the Hall of Finishes and the Pewter Museum where visitors can have different sensory experiences  with pewter. Visitors may drop by the Retail Centre which features a wide selection of pewter designs for those who want to shop for gifts.

The tour will conclude with a visit to the House of Hard Knocks. Here, visitors can create their own special pewter masterpiece using the same methods that pewter craftsmen used years ago. The school of Hard Knocks is located at Royal Selangor Pewter factory. It is a pewter-smithing workshop offering hands-on experience and fun for visitors who interested in trying their hand at pewter crafting. Visitors use simple tools such as hammers, mallets, wooden moulds and scrapers to form, scrape, polish and pack their own pewter dish.  At the end of this, visitors can take home their very own pewter dish with their initials engraved, in addition to an apprentice pewter-smith apron and a certificate acknowledging their newfound skill.

Participants are dropped off at their hotel at the end of the tour.

Here, one can observe the processes involved in the making of pewter; and later attend the School of Hard Knocks - probably the best section of the tour of the pewter factory, where visitors can mould and design their own pewter masterpiece using the same methods that pewter craftsmen used several years ago.



Participant guidelines

A tour booking requires a minimum of two adults. The price is inclusive of skill training at the School of Hard Knocks.

Other disclosures

A 20 % non-refundable deposit is required for bookings made more than 72 hours prior to departure date. Full payment is required at least 48 hours prior to departure date.

All confirmed bookings will be automatically cancelled in instances where the full payment is not received and cleared. Any re-instatement of bookings will be subject to availability.

The operator reserves the right to adjust the itinerary or cancel the tour due to weather condition, which is beyond the operator's control, in the best interests of all parties involved.
