Putra Jaya & Agricultural Heritage Park Tour
Putrajaya is the federal administrative capital of Malaysia. It is located 25 km south of Kuala Lumpur and houses numerous federal government ministries, departments and agencies. And yet, about 70 % of its area is lush greenery and botanical gardens. The first destination on the tour is Taman Warisan Pertanian, the agricultural heritage park where Malaysia's commercial agricultural development has been exhibited. Here visitors can observe the process of cultivating for palm oil, cocoa, rubber and a variety of fruits, herbs and spices, and visit areas where the manufacture of agricultural products take place. One example is the Rubber Processing Demonstration Area.
Putrajaya's Government Centre consists of new complexes and beautiful structures. One of the most beautiful structures is the Putra Mosque, a dusky pink mosque, three-quarters of which floats on the Putrajaya Lake. Its architecture is Islamic, and inspired and modelled after Persian architecture of the Safavid period. It was constructed mostly with rose-tinted granite and the entrance resembles the gates to public buildings in Muslim Persia.
Another place of interest is Putra Perdana - the Prime Minister's Office, built in 1997 and located on the main hill in Putrajaya. It is a clay coloured building with a green dome, and is a unique combination of Malay, Islamic and European architecture. Nearby is the Putra Bridge, a 435 metre concrete bridge connecting the Government precinct to the mixed development precinct, inspired by the famous Khaju Bridge in Isfahan, Iran. Also remarkable is the residence of the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Tour starts from tour departure point and proceed to Putrajaya, which is about an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur. The first place to visit is Taman Warisan Pertanian, the agricultural heritage park where Malaysia's commercial agricultural development has been exhibited. Here visitors can observe the process of cultivating for palm oil, cocoa, rubber and a variety of fruits, herbs and spices, and visit areas where the manufacture of agricultural products take place. One example is the Rubber Processing Demonstration Area.
The next stop is the Putrajaya Government Centre, consisting of new governmental complexes, where visitors can see the beautiful structures of the Putra Mosque, the Prime Minister's office - Putra Perdana, Putra Bridge and the Prime Minister's residence. The tour ends with a drive back to Kuala Lumpur and drop off at tour departure point.
