Pick up times are from 3.15 to 3.30 pm. Actual pick-up time will depend on the location of hotel and traffic condition.

Complimentary pick-up and drop off service at selected hotels within the city limits to our tour departure point, where you will be transferred to your respective vehicle. Guests staying at other hotels are advised to find their own way to the departure point or to the nearest selected hotel for complimentary pick up.

Complimentary pick-up for hotels located at Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sultan Ismail and major hotels located within a 1 km radius from the Malaysia Tourism Centre Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

A surcharge will be applicable for pick-up from hotels outside the selected hotels.

Cancellation policy

  • Cancellations made 30 days or more after confirmation of reservation: 20% cancellation fee will be applicable
  • Cancellations made between 30 and 14 days after confirmation of reservation: 50% cancellation fee will be applicable
  • Cancellations made 14 days and below after confirmation of reservation: 100% cancellation fee will be applicable
  • Any no-show cases after confirmation of reservation: 100% of the total amount will be charged

Bukit Melawati & Fire Fly Tour

This tour is a visit to the Bird Sanctuary Park in Bukit Melawati, where visitors can watch for rare sights of migratory birds and silver leaf monkeys. Visitors will also be able to have an incredible experience of watching the largest firefly colonies in the world at Kuala Selangor while they illuminate in the dark night sky amid the mangroves.

Kota Melawati, also known as Fort Altingsburg, was one of the 2 forts built on the hills of Bukit Melawati. It was built during the reign of Sultan Ibrahim of Selangor in the 18th century as protection against invading foreigners but was destroyed during the Selangor Civil war. All left now are the remains of the fort, a couple of cannons, foundation stones and the rock which is said to have been used for executions. The tour will have a visit to the lighthouse and several old colonial houses built during the British days. The view from the hill is picturesque.

Kampung Kuantan will be the main highlight of the tour where a small boat or tongkang will take visitors upstream the dark to watch the "Christmas Trees" lit up by the fireflies. The synchronized, rhythmic flashing which will amaze comes from a thousand fireflies surrounding the mangrove trees. Let the skilled local oarsmen make it an experience you will never forget by asking them questions and they will definitely help you out as much as they can.

Depart from tour departure point and proceed for a 1-hour drive to Kuala Selangor town in the quiet hamlet of Kampung Kuantan.

On arrival at Kuala Selangor, you will visit Kota Melawati, formerly known as "Fort Altingsburg". This landmark contains an execution block, royal mausoleum and colonial buildings from the past. After visiting Kota Melawati, you head down to the Bird Sanctuary Park where you will see some sights of migratory birds and the resident silver leaf monkeys.

Next, you take a short drive to Kampung Kuantan where you will take a small boat or locally known as tongkang upstream the Kuala Selangor River where you will be mesmerized by the fireflies lighting up the mangrove trees. Some people call this the "Live Flashing Christmas Tree" because of the synchronized, rhythmic flashing produced by thousands of fireflies along the riverbanks.

After the tour, you will return to your tour departure point at approximately 11.30pm.

All confirmed bookings will be auto-released in instances where the full payment is not received and cleared. Any re-instatement of bookings will be subjected to space availability.

No refund / discount will be given in part or full for any items not either utilized by choice or circumstance once the tours has commenced.

The tour operator reserves the right to adjust the itinerary for the best interest of all parties involved.
